Gerard Merchant's relationship with wood began at six years old, working alongside his twin brother with little more than a hammer and saw. That early fascination carried him through a career as a lead carpenter in New York and a cabinet installation foreman in Arizona, before he opened and ran his own commercial millwork and cabinet shop. Decades of precision craftsmanship followed. His pieces, vases, bowls, peppermills, and pens, sit at the intersection of raw nature, contemporary color, and tactile serenity, bridging traditional woodturning with the fluid elegance of fine ceramics. Each piece is brought to life with resins, pigments, and ceramic-inspired tones that reveal something new with every viewing. For Gerard, turning is only half the process; the true transformation happens in the finishing, where each surface is polished until it invites the hand to linger.
